Admont, Stiftsbibliothek, Cod. 23 (saec. XII^3/4) is the first of two volumes containing Gratian's Decretum; the other volume is Admont, Stiftsbibliothek, Cod. 43. The siglum for both volumes is Aa.

Note that Melnikas, Corpus vol. 3 p. 1261 listed both Admont Cod. 23 and 46 as Gratian copies, while Mordek, [https://doi.org/10.7767/zrgka.1986.72.1.403 Review of Melnika p. 409 suggested to remove both from the list of Gratian copies.

• fol. 8r-8v the beginning of an introduction (incipit Hoc opus inscribitur), the rest of which is found in Admont 43, fol. 11r-12v
• fols. 9r-199v part I of the first recension of Gratian's Decretum. Admont Cod. 23 contains Pars I completely (fol. 9r-92v) and Pars II from C.1 to C.14 q.6 (fol. 93r-199v); Causae 15-36 are found in Admont 43
• fols. 200r-296v a supplement drawing on the second recension of Gratian dubbed Exceptiones quorundam capitulorum in corpore libri omissorum... It consists of canons and dicta missing in the Decretum version on fol. 9r-199v.
