Admont, Stiftsbibliothek, Cod. 23 is the first of two volumes containing Gratian's Decretum; the other volume is Admont, Stiftsbibliothek, Cod. 43. It contains the following materials:

  • fol. 1v-8r the beginning of an introduction (incipit In prima parte agitur), the rest of which is found in Admont 43, fol. 1r-11r
  • fol. 8r-8v the beginning of an introduction (incipit Hoc opus inscribitur), the rest of which is found in Admont 43, fol. 11r-12v
  • fol. 9r-199v part I of the first recension of Gratian's Decretum. Admont Cod. 23 contains Pars I completely (fol. 9r-92v) and Pars II from C.1 to C.14 q.6 (fol. 93r-199v); Causae 15-36 are found in Admont 43
  • fol. 200r-296v a supplement drawing on the second recension of Gratian dubbed Exceptiones quorundam capitulorum in corpore libri omissorum... It consists of canons and dicta missing in the Decretum verion on fol. 9r-199v.
