Late tenth-century systematic collection from Southern Germany, most probably Freising. The collection draws heavily on Regino of Prüm, who is the formal source for 59 chapters. The Freising origin is made plausible by the detailed analysis provided by John Burden (p. 112–115) who manages to identify manuscripts of possible formal sources for the other chapters which were all available in Freising at the time.

The youngest material source is c. 3 of the council of Koblenz (922). Thus the terminus post quem is 922.

Manuscripts

Following Kéry, the collection is preserved in two manuscripts: Bamberg, Staatsbibliothek, Msc.Can. 9 (olim P. I. 9), fols. 206r-232r and Wien, ÖNB, Cod. 2198, fols. 88v-123v.

Excerpts from the collection can be found in the Collectio sancti Emmerami Ratisbonensis, in the Collectio CCXXXIII capitulorum, and in the manuscript Stuttgart, WLB, HB.VI.107.
