Improve the Description of a Collection

See the Description of the collections for both articles we already have and those which are missing, or the alphabetical list of collections having an article in the respective Category:Canonical Collection for inspiration.

If you have an article in mind which you want to improve, leave your name and that of the collection; if you have no specific collection in mind, just write your name and we will find you a collection:

Improve as you see fit; Linda's version can always be restored and your version can always be improved. The Welcome new user page addresses some practical questions. For questions, comments etc in context of these tasks, please use the discussion page of the editathon page!

Improve the Description of a Manuscript

Same as with collections - you can either sign up for manuscript(s) you want to describe, or volunteer to improve mss articles we will assign. Adding links to digital images and/or detailed descriptions of the manuscript in questions, providing more information on the content, discussion of the date and place of origin all are very welcome. For inspiration, have a look at List of manuscripts and/or Category:Manuscript

Add New Stubs (articles) on Manuscripts

There are numerous manuscripts of canon law collections which have no entry yet. For all these manuscripts, even a very short article with very basic information (a "stub") would improve the wiki; all you have to do is to copy some basic information. The lists below are based on Kéry's manuscript index and similar works of reference; red link indicate missing articles. For more than 1000 manuscripts, the relavant page numbers in Kéry are listed right after the shelf mark; click on any blue page number to jump to the respective page in the digital version of the book. Have a look at the digital copy of Kéry's book (p. 1), the Clavis handbook (p. 1) or older literatur like Maassen (p. 1}). The many red links in these four lists give you an idea what is still missing:

• List of manuscripts part 1 (place names A to H; some 300 mss)
• List of manuscripts part 2 (place names I to O; some 540 mss)
• List of manuscripts part 3 (place names P to R; some 300 mss)
• List of manuscripts part 4 (place names S to Z; some 400 mss)

Click on any red link to create a new entry on the respective manuscript; if you briefly state where and when the manuscripts was written, and which collection it contains, that's already a stub; inserting the code [[Category:Stub]] and [[Category:Manuscript]] (simply copy&paste the gray text) will mark the article as a stub on a manuscripts. If you also insert the bibliographical information that's even better; you can copy&paste from the four lists: choose "edit source", find your manuscript, copy the code behind the colon (e.g. {{Author|Kéry}}, p. {{Kéry|194}}, {{Kéry|246}} for Admont, Stiftsbibliothek, Cod. 43) and insert in your new article. Don't forget to save your changes.

Help with Technical Issues (Categories)

The bigger the wiki gets, the more important become categories and other more technical issues. If you want to learn about them, sign up here and we will find you more technical tasks (putting articles into categories, but also more advanced tasks involving WikiMedia functions like the statistic tools used for example here).
