Note that the archive of the chapter until 1956 was kept at Valère castle just outside Sion, and sometimes is referred as Valère archive in the older literature. In 1958 it was moved to a new building next to the cathedral, together with the collection of manuscripts and incunabla of the chapter; today it is kept in the local State Archive.
