The Collectio Berolinensis is a collection of early papal letters closely related to the Collectio Avellana, but also to the Collectio Turonensis. The sole extant copy is found in the first part of the composite manuscript Berlin, SBPK, Ms. Phill. 1776 at fol. 1-92. According to Blaudeau, the collection might have originated under pope Felix IV (526-530), his successor Boniface II (530-532), or under Vigilius (537-555). The last datation may find support by the collection's connexus to the Collectio Turonensis (if one follows Schwartz in linking the Turonensis to the Three Chapter Controversy).
The manuscript is also known as „codex Virdunensis“ (Sirmond) or „Handschrift von Verdun“ (Maassen), maybe because it was at Verdun in Sirmond‘s time (see Maassen p. 764).
