Paris, BnF, lat. 2389 is a composite manuscript. The second unit (fol. 1-16) on fol. 2r-15r was claimed to contain book four of Burchard by the old catalogue (repeated by Brommer); however, Fransen in 1976 made clear that it in fact was a small compilation of texts on the sacraments (see Collectio canonum in Paris, BnF, lat. 2389). The rest of fol. 15v and fols. 16r-v are empty. A copy of book four would have been unique insofar otherwise only books 19 and 20 of the Liber decretorum enjoyed a separate circulation.
The text is quite raw; it lacks canon numbers, all rubrics, and at least on the first folios also initial letters (although many are supplemented by a much later hand). The inscriptions in the margin by the main hand are heavily abbreviated.
