Würzburg, Universitätsbibliothek, M. p. th. q. 31 is a late eighth to early ninth-century composite manuscript of 59 folios in 2 parts (I: 1r-41v and 52r-59v; II: 42r-51v) in 1 col. in 19-26 (I) and 27 (II) lines. It is made of veal parchment, measuring 192 x 145 mm (152-162 x 110-120 mm and 168 x 115 mm). Its codicological composition reads as follows: 9 quires, (III + 1)7 + IV15 + (IV + 1)24 + IV32 + V41 + III47 + 2 x I51 + IV59, quire signatures in Roman numerals start at I7 until IIII32, with modern foliation in Arabic numerals.
The manuscript was written by multiple, Anglo-Saxon-influenced hands; part I in Anglo-Saxon minuscule, part II in Caroline minuscule with Anglo-Saxon influences according to Bischoff, Flechner, and Lowe. While its provenance remains unknown, it was probably written in (Western-)Germany in a scriptorium with Irish/Anglo-Saxon influences according to the forementioned authors.
