Usage
If you use this template to refer to a papal letter, you simply enter the Jaffé number in the field, or in the Edit source mode you type e.g. {{JE+|1996}}. As a result, the number is linked directly to the relevant page in second edition of Jaffe, Regesta pontificum. At the same time, the respective page is placed in a category (e.g. Category:JE †1996) together with all other pages that mention the same Jaffé number, creating an index of papal letters by Jaffé numbers. These categories in turn are found in the Category:Papal letters by Jaffé number.
