The Collectio Bobbiensis is preserved in a single manuscript: [[Milano, Biblioteca Ambrosiana, C. 238 inf.|Milano, Biblioteca Ambrosiana, C. 238 inf]]. It contains letters from Popes Gregory (590-604) and Leo (440-461). Since the Registrum is mentioned at the beginning of the collection, Gregory's letters appear to derive, in one way or another, from the Roman archives. Accordingly, the manuscript transmits a brief report—possibly written by the papal office—located between JE 1524 and JE 1525 (f. 26v); the same report is to be found in the ''Registrum'' manuscripts used for the relevant editions (CCSL, MGH).
