A further product of Lyon in the 9th century illustrates the preoccupation at Lyon with problems within the diocese. A compendium of canonistic material is transmitted in four manuscripts (Troyes, BM, 1064, Troyes, BM, 1406, Paris, BnF, lat. 2449 and Albi, BM, 41). All four manuscripts contain fragments of a letter of Argrim of Lyon-Langres from the year 894/5. Brief collections of canons taken from the Collectio Dionysiana I deal with the election and ordination of bishops and with episcopal privilege and immunity and the judicial procedures which must be observed when bishops are accused. Rudolf Pokorny associates the contents of the manuscript with two contested ordinations in the ecclesiastical province of Lyon. The manuscript Troyes, BM, 1064 was compiled for Hieronimus, who was ordained bishop of Belley in 933.
