Saint-Claude, BM, 3 or 17 is a copy of the first version of the Collectio XII partium (TX). The preface mentions Burchard and refers to 20 books, even if the collection itself has only twelve. The book was at Saint-Claude Abbey since at least the late 15th century.

The manuscript is often referred to by its CGM number 3, including by the BM itself and French platforms (Initiale, Biblissima, ARCA). However, in the literature one also finds "3 (17)" (van Balbeghe), "17 (3)" and "17" ( Kéry), and "17" (Müller, Fowler-Magerl).

Note that the ARCA descriptions dates the manuscript to the eleventh century and wrongly identifies it as a copy of Burchard and dates it to the eleventh century. The Initiale cataloge dates it (correctly) to the twelfth century, and tentatively suggest it was written in Southern France.
