Historiography

Accounts in the older scholarship are partly confused. Kuttner, Repertorium p. 320 reported it as a lost manuscript containing an unknown decretal collection, but in fact it is a copy of Gratian, Concordia discordantium canonum. It was bought for the Library of Congress in 1948, ultimately from the Phillipps Collection (olim Phillipps 14953). In 1953, Kuttner, Roman law cites from it, giving the shelfmark as "Law library, MS 67". The 1962 census cites it as "D. 402", and cites Kuttner for an Italian origin and a 14th (or perhaps late 13th) century date. The call number according to the online catalogue of the Library of Congress is "Office MS. G7" (sic).
